Unity

Although we have an African American in office, race relations is still a major issue in the U.S. in his speech “ a More Perfect Union,” Barack Obama speaks on how “ America needs to come together as one and decide that it is time to write a brand new page of history.” Meaning that living in the past is not getting us any where, but is stopping us from being a great country of Unity. As an African American, I believe that in order to approve the U.S. race relations we need to stop dwelling on the past and live for the now. Instead of trying to get other races to have pity on us, we need to use our past to make us stronger and show other races that we are better than our ancestors were. In order to approve race relations in the U.S. we as African Americans need to work together as a family and stop hating one another. In order to bond and be in unity with other races of America, we have to first love and help one another as African Americans, because if they see that the African American race is not willing to be a unity then they will continue to be stuck in their ways of believing that African Americans do not deserve to be a unity with all Americans.
